Dalla recensione: (...) 5 racconti sanguinosi, perversi e disturbanti sull'osceno circo delle meraviglie, il Suprême, dove si esibiscono freak di ogni tipo: dalla classica donna barbuta al clown a due teste, da mutazioni raccapriccianti come bambini lombrico agli spettacoli porno-cannibalici di Vivien Duemila Chili. A chiudere il romanzo il racconto extra "Midnight Baby - Horror Lolita", dove una bambina vittima di abusi da parte del padre e dei suoi amici depravanti diventerà, una volta cresciuta, una spietata omicida. (...) Battiago riesce a disgustarsi, scioccarci, farci sentire profondamente a disagio. Wikipedia Vi aspetta un catalogo 2018 ricco di novità e letture interessanti. Inizieremo con la prima edizione del romanzo 'La Casa della Bestia 2 - Il Sequel' (The Beast House, 1986), il secondo volume della più celebre serie di Richard Laymon. Poi sarà la volta di 'HellRaiser:The Toll', anche questo un sequel di un'opera celebre come 'Schiavi dell'Inferno' (HellBound Heart), pensata come ideale ponte tra 'Hellbound Heart' e 'The Scarlet Gospels'/Vangeli di Sangue, ideata da Clive Barker e scritta da Mark Alan Miller, che concluderà la serie 'Hellraiser' (quella letteraria e canonica). Per una volta, le edizioni in lingua inglese e Italiana usciranno a pochi giorni di distanza. Dopo queste due prelibatezze, vedrà la luce il romanzo 'Samsara' di Caleb Battiago, terzo e ultimo volume della 'Trilogia Naraka'. Ricordiamo che tutti i testi sopra indicati, pur facenti parte di 'serie' possono essere letti autonomamente e sono autoconclusivi. A Marzo potrete invece fare vostro quello che riteniamo sarà il libro horror dell'anno, visti gli incredibili e succulenti contenuti: l'edizione italiana dell'antologia 'Shining in the Dark', che conterrà opere inedite nella nostra lingua di Stephen King, Clive Barker, Brian Keene, John Lindqvist, Jack Ketchum e opere rare di Ramsey Campbell e molti altri assi dell'horror internazionale. Al rientro dalle vacanze, a Settembre, troverete disponibile un'altra antologia 'top' come 'Il Libro degli Orrori, a cura di Stephen Jones, anch'essa inedita in Italiano, con racconti di Stephen King, Caitlin R. Kiernan, Ramsey Campbell, John Lindqvist, Richard C. Matheson, Lisa Tuttle e tanti altri grandi maestri di genere. Anche questa antologia potete preordinarla a prezzo speciale sul nostro Store. Finita qui? Per niente. A Novembre sarete incalzati da uno dei più grandi cult dell'horror estremo internazionale: il romanzo 'The Bighead' (1997) capolavoro del leggendario Edward Lee, un libro indimenticabile, naturalmente inedito in Italiano, dal quale è stato tratto un film. Per finire, a Dicembre potrete fare vostra un'altra antologia 'top' imperdibile come 'Racconti da Incubo', a cura del grande Stephen Jones, con opere di Joe Lansdale, Neil Gaiman, Caitlin R. Kiernan, Ramsey Campbell, Brian Lumley, Tanith Lee, Poppy Z. Brite e tanti altri magnifici interpreti, che rappresentano il meglio della letteratura horror moderna americana e inglese. Anche questo libro è preordinabile a prezzo speciale sul nostro Store. Ma ormai ci conoscete bene, e potete immaginare che ci teniamo sempre in serbo qualche sorpresa, da aggiungere a questi titoli, per non svelare troppo presto tutti i nostri piani. Ma già ciò che è presentato e rivelato basta e avanza, e non abbiamo citato le tante opere che pubblicheremo in lingua inglese. Insomma, il grande horror sapete bene dove trovarlo, anche quest'anno. Sotto, per i coraggiosi, trovate il trailer del film 'The Bighead', tratto dal romanzo omonimo di Edward Lee, che sarà sicuramente uno dei protagonisti del nostro catalogo 2018. Dalla recensione: (...) “Cuoio Nero, pubblicato originariamente nel 1994, esibisce senza pudore una scrittura ricca e complessa, che non esita a catturare il lettore con metafore e passaggi quasi poetici. Nel contempo Schow mantiene un ritmo sempre alto, con una cura per la descrizione particolareggiata che inevitabilmente trasforma certe scene horror in capolavori di repulsione. E' una strana combinazione, che ricorda un pesce abissale: la bellezza della luce, in questo caso di alcune espressioni, di alcuni passaggi, maschera tuttavia denti aguzzi e un corpo deforme. Ovviamente la storia non è mai sottomessa alla parola, ma c'è una certa raffinatezza dall'autore, una certa ricerca stilistica. Come con Clive Barker, sono inoltre storie di violenza urbana, immerse dentro metropoli e periferie degradate e abbandonate all'abuso di gang e forze di polizia. (...) Dalla recensione: (...) L’incredibile storia che prende vita nel sottosuolo è un folle mix di comicità e gore, un carosello di orrori e situazioni esilaranti in cui è un vero spasso perdersi. L’esagerazione non è solo un limite a cui tendono i protagonisti, identificandola con il divertimento assoluto, ma è un po’ l’elemento distintivo del libro stesso che ne è quasi un manifesto. Tutto, dagli elementi splatter a quelli comici e grotteschi, viene spinto al limite e gonfiato fino a sfociare nel surreale, nell’assurdo. È anche per questo che l’universo in cui Mellick ci proietta non finisce mai di stupire, al suo interno non esistono regole razionali o paletti che tengano, tutto può succedere e tutto può essere messo in discussione innescando un ciclo continuo che sollazza come un infinito giro di giostra.
